Home of the Sacred Compassion Halton-in-hastings
« on: Saturday 01 August 09 13:57 BST (UK) »
Im trying to find some info on the Home of the Sacred Compassion at 179 Priory Road Hastings  - someone Ive been looking for is shown as an inmate there in the 1911 census.

Google isnt very helpful although I found a reference in Hansard:Copy presented of Scheme approved by the Secretary of State for the Home Department in pursuance of Section 5 (2) (a) of the Factory and Workshop Act, 1907, for the regulation of the Hours of Employment, intervals for meals and rest, and holidays in respect of the Home of the Sacred Compassion, Halton-in-Hastings [by Act]; to lie upon the Table

Was it a home for unmarried mums - though there dont appear to be any babies!

Any help would be appreciated

Thank you

Hi 56margie

Sorry, but I am on 5 weeks holiday at the moment

I know where 179 Priory Road is in Hastings or rather Halton, but do not have any archives here with me at the moment.

Will reply in September when I get home
