Hi, my great great great grandparents were married in St Mary's Portsea in 1803, I thought the church had gone but Google Streetview seems to show something - difficult to see through the trees.  Might you have any photos of it please?

Thanks in advance
Regards, Heather

;D Heather; I think ye've just made my day! Because, nothing makes me happier than pulling the impossible out of the hat.

I've just checked my files and guess what? I've only got a picture here of the St. Mary's they'd have been married in! Pulled down in 1843. The whacking great place that exists today is nothing like the one they'd have known.

I understand there's been a church 'on this site' since Saxon times, actually. But, I have a picture of the one ye want  :)

PM me an addy and I'll mail it straight over to ye.

Ah that makes sense!  I knew I did some research into it and thought it had been demolished but when I saw it on Streetview I thought I was getting confused.  I was just about to log off and get some zzzs but I've sent you a pm with my email addy - now the dilemma do I wait to see it tonight or save it for the morning  :-\

Thanks very much  :)

Hi Steve,  bit of a long shot but I wondered if you have any photos relevant to the salt industry in Fawley or South Hayling?  It turns out two of my ancestors were Salt Officers (in the late 1700s so well before photography!) but I'd be very interested in seeing any shots that might exist of the works/salt pans etc if you have them please.

Thanks and happy new year!

Hi Steve,

For starters my great great grandparents were living at 4 Norfolk Square, Portsea in 1881 - have you any shots of that?

Regards,
Phil
