thats fantastic. Look foward to seeing photos.
My partner and I came to Portsmouth a couple of weeks ago. We took a photo of where Dairyman's Arms use to be.

Well, like you say, there are alot of streets. ill have to write them all down and send them to you at a later date.

Thanks.

Hi Steve,

Have you thought about posting some of the pubs you can't identify on the Deciphering and Recognition board?  Rootschatters love a puzzle and have managed to find many a mystery location, let 'em loose on some of your unidentifiables  ;)

Could be worth a crack, Heather. It'd need people with Pompey roots, obviously. But, a few of them might be recognisable.

Actually, one I have is a modern shot of a very distinctive pub in Cosham. I well remember having a pint there one day. But, can I remember the name of the damn place?!  :-\ Driving me up the wall it is!

All set for a bit of a busy day today. But, I'll have to look into this. May even run down that 'Pompey Pubs' guy and ask him to have a look at them. Awful waste, having so many pubs of no use to anyone.

Hi Steve

Portsea....Ummm. I think my husbands family had some sort of magnetism to Portsea.  Those that were born there moved away and those that weren't moved there!
St Mary's and St Thomas' were the favoured churches but looking at the addresses almost anywhere seems to have had someone living there!
I have only looked about a quarter of the way down my address list and I've come up with 14 different Portsea Streets. I wouldn't dream of asking you to look for all these but an early pictures of either of the churches would be very welcome.
Reading your description of life in Portsea perhaps explains why we had some real characters in the family ;D

Jocie; I'm just geeing up to shoot off out the door. But, St. Mary's I can do. Tom's? Ye mean Thomas A'Becket ~ Portsea C of E Cathedral? (Mary's is CoE, so I'd guess so) Anyway, yeppers, some good shots of both.

I can also do ye some Queen St and round about the Hard stuff. Give ye a taste of the area.

PM me an addy and I'll get onto it this evening  ;)

I'm off out as well but I'll PM you a list of addresses later in case any of them sound familiar.
Many Thanks

Hi Steve

That pub in Cosham that's driving you mad ... have you tried looking on Google streetview to see if you can find it?  If it's very distinctive I'm sure someone here could name it if you posted the photo  :)
