Bryan family 1861-1881
« on: Saturday 08 August 09 14:13 BST (UK) »
Michael Bryan b.abt.1831 Bandon Cork Ireland
Ellen Bryan b.abt 1835 Bandon Cork Ireland
John Bryan b.abt 1855 Plumstead Kent
George Bryan b.abt 1859 Plumstead Kent
Mary Ann Bryan b.1862 Gravesend Kent.

This family appear on the 1861 census and no other, except for Mary Ann Bryan who appears on the 1881 census with her Uncle George Bryan.

I believe they may have emmigrated from, possibly, London England to who knows where?

Has anyone any ideas?

Thank you.

Seems unlikely they'd emigrate between 1861 and 1871 and leave Mary Ann behind.

I found them in 1871 in Woolwich, RG10/783 folio 69 page 13
13 Salutation Alley
Bryan, Michael, 38, labourer Royal Arsenal, b. Ireland
Ellen, 39, wife, b. Ireland
Jno, 15, labourer ditto b. Plumstead
George, 12, errand boy b. Woolwich
???, 3, (son), b. Woolwich (writing is terrible, could be Mich. for Michael?)
Mary A, 10, b. Gravesend

In 1881, at 7 Salutation Alley there is George Bryan, 22, b. Woolwich, married and with a child.
at the same address there is a widowed "Dirmes" Bryan, his widowed sister (both from Cork) and some children of Dirmes (first name must surely have been mistranscribed?)
