1831 presumably?
Posting duplicate requests does tend to cause confusion.  Where did you get your information that James married a Hannah?

Well, if you look at freebmd more closely you will see many entries for a James Pittam in Brackley and even more across all of Northamptonshire.   There is obviously the one married to Selina as Tati has found them for you. What firm evidence do you have in the way of certificates and census records that mention known ancestors?

1881 census which you can find freely yourself has the following family in Helmdon which ties up nicely with the 1891 above
James 41 ag lab b Wappenham?
Elizabeth 41
George 14
Richard E 7  (There is a birth for Richard Edwin in Brackley in Sep 1874)
Amelia K 3
Charles 7 months  all b Helmdon

The only discrepancy is James' age but census ages can be out.  Worth looking at anyway.

Selina did not last long.  There is a death for her age 25 in Dec 1871.  Then there is a possible further marriage for James to an Elizabeth on freebmd.  Your friend may need to get some certificates to sort this out.
Do look at your information carefully though.  Suggesting that James married Martha a year after Hannah died in 1864 would mean that the said Martha was a babe in arms at the time.  Or even still in the womb as she is only 26 in 1891!  Mind you the ages do seem most peculiar as by 1901 he is down to 52 and she is up to 49.  They have another child, Violette, age 1 with them.

Welcome to Rootschat!

Just had a look at both Censuses, and Hannah is showing as unmarried in both?

If that's the case, finding Ada's father will be difficult, and may be impossible. If she is ever dependant on Poor Relief, you may be able to find something, but otherwise the chances are very slim.

If she was on Poor Relief, sometimes the authorities tried to reclaim money from the father.

I see that on Ada's baptism in 1885, that she is listed as Ada Somers Pittam. That MAY mean that Somers is her father's surname. But I'm not sure you can put a lot of weight on that!
