COMPLETED Oakley parish register - DILLEY
« on: Thursday 13 August 09 11:23 BST (UK) »
The IGI has an extracted marriage on 9 June 1726 at Oakley between Thomas DILLEY and Elizabeth STOAKS. Member submissions show this as being a marriage licence on the same date, and that Thomas was of Southill

If anyone has access to Oakley PR transcription I'd be very grateful for a look up to see if Thomas was actually described as being of Southill

Many thanks

David

Good moaning

That would be great John, thanks

My track record with CDroms isn't good. Three have got corrupted, one of which works in part, another one of which cost £65!. Fiche are fiddlier with a 20x magnifying glass but more durable ie an invisible minor scratch doesn't consign them to the bin!

David

The Oakley PR 1726 marriage says Thos Dilley (of Southill) to Eliz Stokes (of Oakley) by licence, Mr Leith - Surr. (stood surety)

He is the only Dilley entry for Oakley; but interestingly the only other Southill entry is the marriage of Thos Ashby to Martha Stoakes (by licence) on 6 April 1763. perhaps a later generation of same Stokes/Stoakes family.

Eliz Stokes was baptised 1 Jan 1706 to John & Eliz Stokes.
John Stokes married Eliz Gale on 17 April 1701

Thank very much John. I've now got a surfeit of Thomas Dilleys! I've got Clifton Thomas's marrying in Southill and Southill Thomas's marrying in Oakley. At least one family were nonconformists to boot! And three of them married Elizabeths

A job for the weekend I think

Thanks again

Bon weekend
