Catherine & Margaret could be the same person
birth reg
Margaret Catherine Davies sept qtr 1884 Tregaron vol 11b pg 81
Her birth cert would give you Catherine's maiden name

possible from 1861?

Catherine Davies head widower 68 farmer b. Llanilar
David Jones son-in-law 29 farm servant b. Caron

Hi there, ooh thankyou thats brilliant. I think it is very likely that Margaret is the same person as Catherine, that makes complete sense!!

Went to Tregaron today. Found out some exacts.
I now know that Evan Isaac Davies died November 22nd 1920 aged 75 and his wife Catherine dies January 26th 1927 aged 69. Also in their grave Evan D(avey) Davies who died on 3rd September 1905 at the age of 23. I am guessing all their other children outlived them as they are not on the tombstone.

Also went to the national archives but had limited time. Still i went through the baptisms and marriages and for some reason was completely unable to find any of them. I'm going to go back and check in the next week or two, will be spending the whole day there and searching everything i can get my hands on. Thankyou so much for your continuing help  :D

If you didn't find them in the records of the parish church, then it's likely that they were non-conformist. Their place of worship may not have had a burial ground, so they could have been buried in the parish churchyard. Getting the marriage cert might give you a clue to their denomination unless the registrar wasn't available and they married in the parish church as well.

Brill, i will look into that. Also im certain that Margaret and Catherine are the same person. I managed to get the 1901 cencus on Ancestry.co.uk and Margaret is on that as Margaret C Davies. Its awesome when mysteries are solved!!  ;D ;D

Hi
Margaret Catherine Davies, Pantsherriff (born 1884) was my paternal grandmother and I am very interested in the elder brother Evan David (born 1882, died 1905).  He had been to South Africa and returned to the UK where he died of a lung infection in London.  I wonder if you have information of him?

Kind regards
MSMelody
