Desparately looking for information on the Perry family from Nottinghamshire area. They all see to have worked in the Lace Industry. William Henry Perry was born in Beeston around 1811and married 1 Jane Smeeton, 2 Charlotte and 3 Mary Baker. Any help much appreciated

Thank you so much Trish1120, this is the kind of information i am looking for. It confirms some of the info I have already and gives more. The spelling of Perry with an extra E is interesting. I know that a lot of the times spelling errors make it difficult to trace ancestors. William Henry I had down as possibly born 1811 or there abouts, the 1809 date is likely. This is fantastic as it now gives me his parents to work on

I have so little information on the Perry side of my family (Perry is my surname) it is frustrating

Are we able to add trees on here so people can see what info we have to add to?

Hi Michael
I'll start with your last question first. The is no facility for posting Family Trees on Rootschat. You can add your surname interests and areas to your profile ( check out mine).
There is also the surname interests table. Just look around the site and familiarise yourself with it. There is also a "Search" feature and you never know what may pop up. Often people "google" their family names and end up finding a connection on Rootschat and that is very exciting
To confirm Williams Fathers name you would have to purchase one of the Marriage Certs. Well worth the few pounds investment.

If you do not have access to Ancestry I can see if anyone is researching the Perrys and contact them for you.

Are you sure that William Henry Perry's first wife was Jane Smeeton ?

Notts Marriage Index has this -

William Henry Perry and Jane GOODWIN, married 27th November 1831,
St Mary, Nottingham.

well that throws a spanner in the works. It looks like he enjoyed gettin married and was still fathering children at the age of 60. Maybee her married Jane Goodwin and THEN 2 yrs later mrried Jane Smeeton?

He has a history of remarrying 1 year after the end of previous marriage

I too have an interest in the Perry's of Nottingham.

My information is that WHP was born in 1810 in Strelley and was married to Jane Goodwin, then Charlotte Stevenson and finally Mary Shantrey Baker.

I have no idea who the parents of WHP were and have not come across Thomas and Ann (as mentioned by Trish) but I am trying to research this at the present time.

Charlotte was my GG Grandmother and WHP my GG Grandfather.
Where do you fit into this family tree?
