Hi John

I think this could well be my Dodd ancestry from the Great Bolas area.

I have a William Dodd and Ruth from this area.

Can you tell me what dates we are talking about.

I have William Dodd being born around 1756.

Regards

Tony

Hi Tony,

Sounds promising.

I have no date for the birth or marriage of WILLIAM.

I have the children of WILLIAM & Ruth as :

RICHARD christ 13/3/1785
BETTY christ 24/11/1785
Mary christ 30/5/1790
BENJAMIN christ 8/12/1793

All christened at Great Bolas.

Hope they are the same as yours.

Let me know.

John.

Hi John

You are correct in as far as the children born in Great Bolas, but there are previous born children.

Here is the complete list of children.

I am descended from William born 1780.

The family moved to Great Bolas sometime between 1782 and 1785 and there had to be what was called a Settlement Examination of William. It all had to do with who would be responsible for keeping the family if they fell on hard times in Great Bolas. I have a copy of this Settlement Examination.

Please let me know if you would like a copy. It isn't the best writing in the world, but I have read it that many times that I can pretty well decipher everything.

I can tell that Ruth is RUTH CHERRINGTON and came from a place called Cherrington. I have got details of her marriage to William Dodd also if you would like a copy.

I have found it much easier to send copies of things direct and not through Rootsweb, so if you would care to e mail me direct at the following address it should make it a lot easier.

Hi Tony,

I have just joined RC and came across this chat forum.
I too am descended from William Dodd and Ruth Cherrington. I see your line begins with their son William, born 1780. I am descended from his brother Benjamin, born 1793.
Regards,
Steve (Dodd).
