What prompted this search was I went to Hemingbrough Church & found these on the Gravestones, I also found a Robert b. 1815 & d.1894 aged 79, his wife was Rebecca, Robert was b. at Cliffe, could he be George's brother,  many thanks for the info on Fred & Myra it all fits into my ancestors, could you please help with Robert on the info I have given you,

                              Thank you Helena

www.familysearch.org has this 1881 entry for Robert & Rebecca

Robert Ward   66   b Cliffe Retired Joiner
Rebecca 59   b Hemingborough
Maria Ward   Visitor  8  b Cliffe

Going back to the 1841 census for Robert - his mother was also Rebecca - father Edward

Quote
Robert was b. at Cliffe, could he be George's brother

Most unlikely - even if George was born 10yrs after Robert (1825) - he would have been a very old man when he married in 1911 (86yrs old)

Ward was quite a common surname in Yorkshire

I would suggest getting a copy of the 1911 marriage cert to establish how old George was at that time and also his fathers name and occupation.  Then you can be certain of tracing the right family

Many Thanks Carole for all your efforts, see what you mean about George being an old man he was b. 1891, will pursue the avenues you have opened, Cliffe in East Yorkshire was a very small hamlet in 1800 & early 1900.s so I thought the most likely they would all be related in some way, and they had bigger families in those days.....NO TV !     Regards Helena

Hello, I stumbled across this old post today, I’ve just started tracing my family history and Fred and Myra were my great uncle and aunt. I have a little info regarding these individulals and their siblings/family that I’d be happy to share. Thanks,
Simon
