Does anyone know which area of Liverpool, Weale Street is/was in? (early 1800s)

Many thanks.

Nothing found in 1870 directory, 1930s gazetteer or current A-Z.  Can you give the source?

Thank you for your reply. :)

My ancestor's sisters were said to be living there on their baptism records in 1809 & 11. He was born earlier and said to be living at Gerard Street in 1807.

Hi Again

As far as I can make out it changed from Weale Street to Whale Street between 1860 and 1864. It was a short (36 yard) street/cul-de-sac south off Gerard Street connecting it with Lionel Street.

I will email you a montage of the area.

Ken

Here is the 1864 O.S. map of Whale Street.

Thank you both :)

Who would have thought it....Whale Street. I wonder why they changed the name or whether it was mistranscribed.

I did wonder about Gerard Street being nearby so it looks as though they didn't move far between christenings.

Thank you :)
