Hi yes that's them, in the 1871 Census, from Mount pleasant, Maria was receiving monies from Russia (actually ukraine - Hughesovka.
Cant understand why my grandmother was living with her grandmother but it all fits, thanks so much it will help.

If you come across anything else I will be eternally greatful!  Cheeky I know!

I have just spoken to my mother telling her that we have found her family.  What seems strange is the fact that Sarah Austin my grandmother was living with her grandparents.  My mother explained that this was probably due to her father never been there, as he had a habit of going off on his bike and wouldnt be seen for some time, sometimes months.  So I wonder what happened to the rest of the children that William & Mary Francis had, Catherine, William, May, Margaret + .
Could anyone help with finding the rest of the children?

Looks like the Sarah living with Maria & George Brown may belong to someone else.

Could Catherine have had a child before marriage do you think? Unless they registered her at both places on the censuses, which has been known to happen.

So, I have Sarah Ann Austin who married Thomas John Roberts, Sarah's siblings were:
Mabel born 1880, Violet born 1900, Catherine b1898, William born ? who married Margaret Harris and had Lavinia born 1920, Eileen born 1923, & Margaret born 1926.  Next I believe there was Margaret who I believe married William Evans and had a son Billy.

Going one generation back:
Thomas born 1870 who married Rose (believed born Salisbury)
Mary Jane who married William Roberts
Sarah Ann who married Llewellyn West (and so the story goes married another four times in USA).
John who married 1. Ann Carter, 2, Elizabeth Gould (widow - Frank Gould)
James born 1868 who you say married Sarah Ann Samuel (or Saunders)
then Catherine who married Will Dicks (Dix) and lastly William Austin who married Mary Francis.

The Sarah Ann on the Census below
1901 16 Queen Street is my grandmother.  If she is 14 in the 1901 Census she would have been born 1887, she was actually born 29 Dec 1887 16 Queen Street, so you are on the right trail.

So I cannot thank you enough for 'padding out' my family tree.
