Baptism(s) - Harpenden, St, Nicholas - SMITH
« on: Tuesday 01 September 09 17:24 BST (UK) »
Hello Rootschatters,

If anyone is visiting HALS anytime, could I request a look-up on 2 baptisms please.

On IGI, as extracted records, I have found George Smith, parents Joseph & Harriet, christened 19 May 1822, with a DOB shown as 20 Apr 1822.

Also, Matilda Smith, parents Joseph & Harriet, christened 19 May 1822, with a DOB shown as 21 Apr 1822.

I realise that twins could be born either side of midnight and 'technically' have different dates of birth, but would just like to get some confirmation that this is not some kind of transcription error.

Many thanks, Regards, B

PS. Incidentally there was a case about 12 months ago where twins were born 51 hours apart, and have different zodiac signs, if the second labour had lasted any longer they would also have been in different school years!!

Hi B,

I found the two baptism entries in the Harpenden Parish Records and can confirm that the birth dates are clearly shown as 21Apr1822 in both instances.

Hello Peter,

Thank you once again for your time and effort in checking this out for me.

A transcription error as I suspected, though I can't help being disappointed, twins born either side of midnight would have been a nice quirk to have in the family history  :)

Kind regards, B
