Mere Knolls Cemetery - John Hays Berry
« on: Tuesday 01 September 09 20:15 BST (UK) »
Is it possible that someone could check a grave in Mere Knolls Cemetery which is for John Hays Berry who died in 1880?  He is buried in plot 2519.   I would like to know anything that is written on the gravestone please.
Thank you
Christine

Thanks for your message Barbara.
Yes I do have this info.   I would like to know what is on the headstone to see what it says.  Especially about the parents.
Are you connected to the Berry's?

I am afraid I was not given a ward from Sunderland Library.   I will email them and ask them for this and get back to you.
Thank you for your reply.
Best wishes
Christine

Christine - Sundeland Local Studies may have given you all the information that they have.  The Monkwearmouth & Southwick Burial Board used grave numbers only, ward numbers were introduced in later years.

I have heard back from them and there is no Ward or Section mentioned. However, they assume that it will probably be in Ward 1 or 2.

Does this help any?

Thanks

Best Wishes

Christine
