A marriage in St George in the East - HELP !
« on: Wednesday 02 September 09 07:13 BST (UK) »
 :) :) :)

After searching everywhere for a marriage which should have taken place in Hampshire, I was so thrilled to find it on Pallot's Marriage Index on the Ancestry site the other day - complete with image.

However, as happens so often in family history, you solve one mystery only to be faced with another.

All it shows is:-

PAFFORD Joseph G - Alley BERRY
St Geo. in East  1802

which is so frustrating, as I need to know the day and month in order to solve another mystery surrounding this couple.

Would the entry in St George's PR's show more than Pallot's Index, or is this an exact copy ??  If not, where would I find the PR's ?

HELP PLEASE !

Well, I have the "Docklands Parish Records Compendium" which is a set of 4 CD's, and it lists St. George in the East, but sadly not the year you are interested in.  There are records up to 1794, and records post-1809, but nothing inbetween.  Some records in some parishes have been damaged by fire or water damage, and I sincerely hope yours isn't one of those.

Try Genfair or The Parish Chest, and see if they have any other records.

RIP 1949-10th January 2013

Best Wishes,  Nick.

Hello! I am related to Pafford and Berry and have an extensive tree at ancestry. Let's compare notes?
