Shotts History Group had an article on Adam Brown, senior, and junior, in their bulletin ( Volume  4 – 2005). Information supplied by Mrs Mary Dunsmore, a granddaughter. The father also called Adam was a cyclist, selected for the 1930 Olympics but could not afford to go. Described as the fastest cyclist in the UK. Adam, the son, featured in the Barrs Irn Bru advert, a coal miner, weightlifter, he died in 1933 aged 54. It would appear from my previous posting he also used the name Lewis Lyon, Highland Games athlete, I have not come across this name. Mary remembers when Adam lived at Gray Street, clearly in poor health, she recalls the photo of him in his “leopard”suit was on display.

I have the original rear pose picture of Adam Brown, on the back it gives his address in Shotts and the picture is dedicated to his daughter who is my Grandmother.

Surreal to see that same image on the internet!
