Thanks Chris

It is the right family it helps me get a bit further. I don't suppose there are any other Bartholomews lurking there?

Hi Chris

Wondered if you could have a look and see if you can find anything pre 1881 census for the following family

MARCHANT
William (dad) born 1829 in Mayfield Sussex
Emily Eliza (mum, maiden name unknown) born 1837 in Mayfield Sussex
Edward (son) born 1860 in somewhere in Sussex
Frederick (son) born 1865 in Mayfield Sussex
Winefred (daughter) born 1871 in Bylip Middx
Charles (son) born 1873 in Oxted Surrey
Emily (daughter) born 1876 in East Peckham Kent

In 1881 they were living in Beltring East Peckham Kent but they must have lived in Mayfield Sussex pre 1871.

In 1901 they were living back in Mayfield in Fletching St (well not all of them, just dad, mum and Emily)

Would be very grateful for any info you can find

Thanks

Hi Chris

Thanks everso, Dad William is my GGGG Grandfather so it was very nice to meet him at last.

Thank you for taking the time to look for these Marchants and for my Bardens which you also helped with, if it wasn't for you I'd never have found them.

I am looking for a George and Elizabeth Roots who were in Biddenden Kent in 1825-1830 and may of been in Sussex. This family seems to of stayed in the Weald of Kent and Sussex areas.

Does the Weald of Sussex show anything in the 1831,41 and 51 census for this couple ???

Thank you

Bob
