Fleet Pond Camp

Can anyone tell me anything about this photo. I beleive its the Manchester Regiment and my G Grandfather is in the picture.

I have no idea where Fleet Pond Camp is/was.

I am trying to find his Army records with no luck so far.

Ah so it is in the UK.Many thanks for that genechaser .

It certainly looks a beautiful spot today,and a worthwhile nature reserve.

The chaps in uniform are Royal Army Medical Corps...Dunno about the cooks though...

Mind you, in the 1911 RAMC trg manual, there is a special section on cooking....
One more charge and then be dumb,
            When the forts of Folly fall,
        May the victors when they come
            Find my body near the wall.

They are a TA unit as well...

Where was he living in 1911??

I havent found him on the 1911 census yet [ in fact I havent found any relatives on it to date ]

1901 he was in living in Sth Manchester ,working as a General Labourer
