I think what was meant was which PART of Bethnal Green. It is several thousands of people.

Have you an address from a later census, or which parish within Bethnal green did the baptisms/later marriages take place?

Bethnal Green is split over 4 Folio's for 1841
HO1017/691 to 694
these being the Hamlets of Church, Green, Hackney Road and Town
and that means thousands of people (I do not possess a name index) , but as Pauline pointed out, if you have a birth/marriage/death cert, the info on the top lines (even if it is from a slightly later period) could help!

Bryant
Researching names BRYANT (Camberwell), PASTERFIELD (Essex and all), RAY (Holborn/Islington areas back to Brentford), POWELL (Glouc & beyond?)
Fletcher (Glouc into Warwickshie into Lancs?), BUCKLEY (Chatham area), Watson (Chatham area).

Hi Bryant and Pauline,
All I have is a marriage of John Silk Sherrard and Hannah Elizabeth Barrow in Bethnal Green, in 1846, he was living at No 5 Abbey Street, fathers name William Sherrard a weaver. Hannah was living at No 4 Nichol Square  Benthnal Green at the time.
And the death of Michael Sherrad younger brother of John in Stephey in 1837.
All the Best

You have your work cut out with this one, I gather you haven't got them in the 1851 census? going down that line would be a far better option as.....
hopefully someone will have an 1851 census name index for Bethnal Green, Middlesex and from that they should be able to provide you with the census reference which makes life so much easier!

In 1841 as I said earlier, Bethnal Green is spread over 4 folios, 691 has 12 pieces, 692 has 13, 693 has 11 and 694 has 12, at an average of 80 to 100 pages per piece it's headache material (1841 name indexes don't exist as far as I know) and they might not even be there?

Go down the 1851 route and then if you obtain a result it could help? with the 1841.

Best of luck
Bryant
