I looked in Lamesley St. Andrew (C od E) for a baptism of Ralph (parish church that covers Eighton Banks).  None there.  There was a Thomas Robinson baptised 18 Feb 1827 s/o Thomas and Martha.  No burial for a Thomas that looked likely at least there but there was a 6 year old Thomas in Hetton le Hole 23 Sept 1832

You might want to check out Hetton le Hole St. Nicholas:

Mary Robinson baptised 5 May 1833 d/o Thomas and Martha, pitman, Hetton le Hole

Elizabeth Robinson baptised 3 July 1836 d/o Thomas and Martha

Thomas Shipley Robinson baptised New Year's Day 1839

No Ralph yet.

NewCastle St. John marriage:  Thomas Robinson and Martha Shipley 3 Mar 1823

A pitman was a person who worked at a mine, predominately a Coal mine.

NewCastle St. John marriage:  Thomas Robinson and Martha Shipley 3 Mar 1823

Janis

VERY INTERESTING!! - one of Ralphs sons was named Thomas Shipley ROBINSON so this marriage in 1823 looks good. Plus Ralph also looks to have a brother Thomas Shipley.

My Ralph was born somewhere between 1822 - 1825,  have calculated this from various sources

Thomas ROBINSON was baptised in 1827 @ Lamesley St Andrew

Mary, Elizabeth and Thomas Shipley are baptised in the 1830's @ Hetton le hole so where did the family disappear to inbetween?

My English geography and understanding of church / parishes / counties / etc is shocking - how far between Newcastle St John & Lamesley St Andrew & Hetton le Hol or is it all in the same town/village and just different parishes / churches. If someone could explain it to me that would be great

Newcastle St John is in the county of Northumberland
Lamesley St Andrew is in Gateshead in the county of Durham about 5 miles as the crow flies from St John
Hetton-Le-Hole is also in the county of Durham about 10 miles from Lamesley St Andrew.
