*COMPLETED* Marriage-John Perrin c.1820
« on: Tuesday 22 September 09 14:33 BST (UK) »
I'm trying to find a marriage for a John Perrin and Ellen (maiden name unknown) but with little success  :(
Can anyone help please? John was a farmer around Swettenham near Congleton, Cheshire. Although I think he was born around Ringway/Hale around 1797. The 1841 census gives the following:

1841 Census HO 107/122/15 pg4
Township of Swettenham
John Perrin  40  Farmer
Ellen    "       35
Mary    "       15
Ellen    "       11
Maria   "         9
John    "         7
James  "         5
Thomas "       3
Martha  "        1
Elizabeth "    40 ? Ind't

As their eldest child Mary could have been aged 15-19 due to the 1841 census rounding down of ages, John and Ellen's marriage probably took place around 1820-25. Was it in Swettenham or in Hale? Any help would be much appreciated by this genealogical beginner!! :)

Hi and welcome to Rootschat

Have you tried this website

http://www.csc.liv.ac.uk/~cprdb/

A copy of any of their childrens birth certs (born after 1837) will give her maiden name

Hi CaroleW,
Thanks for replying and the advice. I've looked at the cprdb website and there aren't many parishes covered around the Congleton area.

Hi Jean,
This could well be it  :)!
I know from the Genuki website that Swettenham was a part of Astbury Parish. More research needed to confirm this but you've given me a starting place to look.

Many thanks,
jubee
