Hi Annie

This is perhaps the Aunt she was living with in 1851

William Bayley married Elizabeth Leitherland 14.6. 1835 St Mary's.

Brilliant sunflower ;D :)

So Elizabeth is the daughter of Thomas/Mary, Mary dies, Elizabeth is sent to live with family.
Thomas is the son of Thomas/Esther and Elizabeth Bailey/Bayley is his sister.
I suspected something like this but took Annie at her word that she had researched the Leatherlands!

Can you find Mary Kilmers maiden name?

Trish :)

you clever lot, that is indeed the path that I had traced for the Leatherlands though I hadn't found Elizabeth's birth. Thomas and Mary also had another daughter, Selina, who was living with a different leatherland uncle in 1851 and 1861 so although I don't have dates of death for Thomas and Mary, I guess they must both have died leaving the children to be brought up by other family members.

Now we just need to find out what on earth the link was between her and Mary Kilmer/Kilner!

Hi Both

Other children baptised to Thomas & Esther. Various spellings

John Leatherland 25.11.1811
Elisabeth Litherland 20.12. 1813 FWK
Ann Litherland 10.12.1815 FWK
William Leatherland 3.5.1818 FWK
George Leatherland 29.10.1820 FWK
Selina Litherland 22.2.1824 FWK
Edward Letherland 6.8. 1826 FWK
Esther Litherland 31.5. 1829 FWK

I can't see a Mary though and there is no marriage for a Leatherland / Kilner. She's a bit of a mystery at the moment.

Hello again

I've got the Notts FHS baptism, marraige and burial CDs but hadn't found Elizabeth's birth on them. Those marraiges above are on them, yes thankyou.

Where did the info re Thomas and Mary's children come from?

If there's other sources out there that some of you have, I have other unanswered questions!  ;D (that sounds like a warning doesn't it! ;D)

Hi Annie

The children I posted were to Thomas & Esther not Thomas & Mary.

Sorry for any confusion - I was referring to the 1841 entry you found which included Elizabeth and 2 older children, whose baptisms I didn't come across on the FHS CD.

Hi Annie

I didn't check the Notts CD's for the children of Thomas & Mary as I thought you had already got them. The only info I have was from the 1841 census.
