1851 census - keen eyes needed!
« on: Thursday 24 September 09 23:47 BST (UK) »
Can anyone tell me the names in the 1851 census  on  HO107/2033 not sure if its page 77 or 290.
Household living at 308 Watson Green, Dudley (4th household down)  - I'm trying to decifer the top two adults names - think it's Joseph but can't make out surname or wifes name - brother in law further down is Robert Jones.

Thanks

Hi Carole

I'm looking at a copy of the census and the HO number is down the side and then on top in the middle is 77 and on the right hand side is what looks like 290 (although 9 and 0 are smudged) - are either of those likely to be the folio number .

Dudley nowadays is W. Midlands but looking at the census page some folk are down as being born in Worcestershire, Dudley

Hi ricky

That's what I thought - are you able to read Joseph's surname?

oh goodness - this is what happens when I should be tucked up in bed!

I'm trying to link Robert Jones to them as he is the brother in law so I was hoping that I would find out that her surname was Jones.  In the 41 I found Robert with his family and also a Joshua Jones of about the same age as Robert so thought that might be his brother. Then Robert is away from home in the 51 so thought this might be him.

Mind you I've looked on LDS site and can't find a Robert and Joshua so not sure how I would link them all up to find parents and now the site has closed down for maintenance - maybe that's telling me to go to bed!
