Hi Tropicalj,

That is really very good of you. I kind of thought that he must have married in Australia, I con't find any detail over here in any of the records. She must have been married when she came back in Jul  '34 although she came back under her maiden name. I have a Nell Hazelhurst coming back from S Africa in 1914 aged 5 and I cannot seem to find her birth details to fit in anywhere.  I guess that a copy of the marriage cert is in order.

Thank you very much for your assistance.  I know about Thomas as he is in my maternal line direct back to 1850.

I also wondered at  the possibility  that Hazelhurst may have been  a maried name as she was 28 when she married in Australia.

Hi there Sue

Perhaps he had expressed a wish to be cremated?

Hi Bob

I note the 1911 census for Hoylake Nellie appears to be a part of a large family group. You will need to purchase for full entry.

HAZLEHURST John 43
HAZLEHURST Ada 40
HAZLEHURST Ada 15
HAZLEHURST Jessie 14
HAZLEHURST John 12
HAZLEHURST Nellie 11
HAZLEHURST Harry 9
HAZLEHURST Edward 8
HAZLEHURST William 6
HAZLEHURST Ester 4
HAZLEHURST Lanie 2

Nellie HAZLEHURST was born Wirral Jun 1/4 1900 8a 490

age fits well with first immigration. Perhaps she took a few years off when she met Thomas.  ;)

1901 census

RG13/3387 Folio 27 Page 4
Birkenhead Rd
Hoylake cum West Kirby

HAZLEHURST John Head b Seacombe Cheshire Market Gardener
HAZLEHURST Ada Wife 31 b Great Meols Cheshire
HAZLEHURST Elizabeth 7 b Great Meols
HAZLEHURST Ada 5 b Great Meols
HAZLEHURST Jessie 4 b Great Meols
HAZLEHURST John 2 b Great Meols
HAZLEHURST Nellie 1 b Great Meols

I think the problem was she is older than you expected

Cheers Kris  :)

Hi Kris, Thats fabulous stuff - another leaf,  another branch. I had started to go back from 1907 which is the date that I had from somewhere but my eyes just started to close and off to bed I went. I have several links here who are looking into what appears to be the same family.

Thanks very much
Bob

These people are my grandparents. I read this to my Mum today (she's their only child) and she's 77 and living in Melbourne. She had 5 children and my Mum seems to remember my sister being in contact with someone a few years back regarding our family history.

Hi Michael
Thank you for this message. I was indeed in touch with your sister some years ago and she gave me some family details but then her email address went down and I couldn't get in touch again. Her married name was Helen Stevens or something like that. I was gutted that I couldn't get back in touch.

My uncle and his son are both named Thomas Albert after your granddad. They also carry the name McGrath.
Our great granddad is the same man which makes us 2nd cousins except that our great grandmas were different. James McGrath was my grandad and yours was his half brother.

they might of had a son called Samuel McGrath  1 year old, as he was buried in Belfast with a John Charters and his wife and my great great grandmother Mary Irwin.
