It could very well be some kind of tap dancer's outfit, Carol. That would explain the stockings, shoes and strange hemline   :)

Just found some tap shoes that might be her's (except they have laces). They're called the Capezio brand:

Perhaps having her watch on her right hand makes her a left handed person. If I were to pose in a similar fashion I would prefer to rest my left hand / arm on the table and my watch is on my left hand. I would find that a more comfortable way to pose being right handed. Just a thought.

Also, welcome hastevenus, this forum is a fantastic place with very resourceful people that are so kind a willing to help. You no doubt will already be wishing you had found it much sooner!  ;D I know I did  ;D I think the hardest part is trying to return the good will and favours. Good luck with all your research, no doubt we will be seeing you here often.

Just a comment on this:

I' m left handed but have always worn my watch on my left hand. We left handers tend to conform/adjust  ;D

 I do think that this is a flipped photo.
