I don't know where my John Barret was born. I know he was at Cambridge, then in the East Midlands. He was ordained at Wymeswold, was then at St. Mary's, Nottingham before being ejected and moving out to Sandiacre. I haven't yet read his will but in Calamy Revisited by Matthews (an account of ejected ministers) the only family mentioned are his wife and his descendants whom I already knew about. Apparently John wrote a memoir of his son, Joseph, which I one day hope to locate and read as it may have a clue about where the family came from.
I agree there is a possibility that my John Barret is related to the Barret family at Thoroton but I don't have any evidence to back this. He could of course come from a different part of the country entirely and have moved to the East Midlands for his work.
Do you know anything about the religious beliefs of your Barrets? Or anything about the people they mixed with?
