No idea how SP have the 1871 entry, Ancestry potentially have a luxury dog's dinner on it. Going purely with minimum letters and then *  ;D,  and birth places this might be them:

Marien Brophy 44, mother, annuitant b .Davie, Aberdeenshire
Ivester 24, carpenter's wife, b. Kincardine, Kincardineshire
Easter Ivester 1, granddaughter b. St Nicholas, Aberdeen
Dorothy Ivester 1 Month, granddaughter b. St Nicholas, Aberdeen

They are staying in a household headed up by a GERENA (surname) which also looks to be horribly mistranscribed  :-\

No address is showing other than St Nicholas Aberdeen. I can only imagine that the original writing may be very faint  ???

Does anything fit with what you know on the family to confirm that it might be them? Can't see anything else that fits under expected spelling  ;D

I've just spent a while looking for Mary Ann in 1891 - no luck as yet. Don't think she was with William Anderson in 1891. Looking at 1901, this might be him with family in 1891:

William Anderson 41, carter
John Anderson 16
Alexander Anderson 13
James Anderson 11
David Anderson 9
Mary Anderson 7

Address: 7 Murray Place, Arbroath

Marriage for Mary Ann and William Anderson was in Arbroath in 1891, must have been not long after the census that year if William still shows as potentially widowed for his 1891 entry (purely by his entry that year)?

Monica

by using the second person forename box on SP and that you have found
william anderson was still widowed i have found -
arbroath angus(1891)
mary christie 44
dorothy 20
elizabeth 17
catherine 16
margaret 14
barbara 14

which apart from mary ann daughter more or less matches the 1881 census

thanks once more
