Margaret Fisher or Fisher Family of Westmeath
« on: Thursday 15 October 09 10:38 BST (UK) »
One of my very first relatives came from Westmeath she was born in 1831 and immigrated to Australia somewhere between 1831-1855

If anyone knows of some good ways to look up some records or has any info I would be greatly appreciative

Thanks

Hello Thorgils,Fisher does not appear to be a very common name in the Westmeath area---Even in the 1911 census there is only one listed for Westmeath !!!& looking back to the Griffith's Valuation there are only two listed -Thomas in the parish of Killua & Henry in the parish of Newtown,so these area's may be a starting point for your research.Regards Nipy

Hello again Thorgils, sorry I didn't get back to you sooner (only just seen you reply) Really glad it's got you on a hunting trail. Will have a scout around to see if I can see any more leads----can I ask did Margaret's parents also go to Australia? --regards Nipy
