Hi Lynne
Dont worry about asking too much questions I am very happy you are trying to help.
I dont think ann and william were married as on his death cert it says single but on ann's it says widow of william but I have never found a marriage. we are assuming the kids are his aswell, when the lived in aberchirder they went under the name forbes but when they moved to peterhead they changed to smith.
I am going to edinburgh in a couple of weeks so I will look at the death cert of elizabeth to see if any connection.
My ann forbes is the daughter of robert forbes and helen lawrence.
If you need any thing looked up at edinburgh I would be happy to look for you.
Thanks for your help Dottie.

Dottie

I have details from Elizabeth's death:
Elizabeth Smith, wife of agr labourer, died 23 May 1861 one PM @ Cross Slacks Gamrie. age 35 years, dau of John Morrison crofter and Jean Brodie (dec) cod: gastric enteric fever 3 months Inf: John Morrison father
John Morrison was living at Cross Slacks in 1851,1861

I think you need to find out where Ann Forbes was in 1871 as well as William Smith. He is not the William Smith listed as living in Marnoch in 1871 as I have already checked that one out.

Lynne
Smith, Webster, Cruickshank of Aberdeenshire
Smith, Legg of Banffshire
Smith, Corrie, Thomson, Lockerby of Dumfriesshire

Hi! I am only about 10 yrs late to this party but I am also researching the same Lawrence's of my husbands Family. James Lawrence and Maggie Addison are my husbands 2x great grandparents. He decends from their son John Lawrence born 1891-1964

John Lawrence married Isabella Jane Wood 31/1/1922 married in Fraserburgh
Their son John Lawrence is my husbands grandfather.
