Palatines in Rathkeale,Bakers
« on: Friday 16 October 09 21:16 BST (UK) »
Hi,
Im in the process of tracing my Palatines relatives that came over from Germany in 1709 to Rathkeale.I have got back to my Great Great grandfather James Henry Baker who was born in 1870 and was a member of the methodist chruch in Ballingrane.
His parents are John and Louisa Baker and after that im lost.I am taking a drive down and i have arranged to meet the local historian and also the author of the book People Make places(The story of the Irish Palatines) also and maybe also visit Castlematrix.

If any one has any information to help me on my journey can you reply to this.

I am struggling with the same issue. I see my Samuel Baker b1802 but there appears to be two distinct families there, particularly if you look at the signatures to Declaration Against Repeal in 1830.

John Bakers father was my Samuel Baker, who was married to Ann Mahalla Walsh, married in 1829. They had Isaac, James, Martha, John, Samuel, George and Michael Baker. Samuel the son, moved to Canada in about 1867.
