I have a copy of the Yarborough Deanery Monumental Inscriptions and this lists a large number of inscriptions for burials in Barton upon Humber cemetery plus other burial places in the town.

If you let me have the full name of the person you are searching for and the date of their death I'll see if its listed.

Hello Jo

Yes he is buried in Barton Cemetary in plot G133A the inscription being:

In Loving Memory of Alison Mary Elliott drifted way peacefully 7th Dec 1993 aged 72 years.
To Join parents Alice Goddard died 26th June 1957 aged 66 years and Walter Maltby
Goddard died 6th Nov 1961 aged 72 years. Also brother James Walter Goddard Killed in
Action 2nd Aug 1941 aged 21.

It looks as if Walter was also a Bell Ringer at the now redundant church of St Peter. In the interior there is evidently a wooden board with the following inscription:

Lincoln Diocesan Guild. St. Peter's Barton on January 7th 1920 a peal of
Bob Minor 504-0 changes was rung on these Bells in 2 hours 57 minutes, being 7 - 720's.
Performers. A.H.Eastoe 1st Miss L.M.Mobbs kth. W.P.Hoodless 2nd W.M.Goddard 5th.
Ayre 3rd A.W.Hoodless 6th Conducted by A.W.Hoodless.

If I come across any other info I'll let you know.

Hi Trish

Only too pleased to help. Have found the following but not for the Barton upon Humber cemetery:

Is this yours?
Parish Church of All Saints, Goxhill.
Plot No. A76
Mary wife of David Holdsworth, died 20th October 1839 aged 36.
No sign of young Ann but doesn't mean to say she isn't their just that there isn't a transcription for her.

Sorry Jo there are no photos of the grave. The cemetery isn't even included on the 'Photographs of Gravestones in the North and North East Lincolnshire Area' web site.

A CD ' Yarborough Deanery Monumental Inscriptions 1682-2008' is available from www.lincolnshirefhs.org.uk  the price is £11.73 + p&p
