Llanerfyl Parish Records - Susan Hughes nee Evan
« on: Thursday 22 October 09 06:29 BST (UK) »
Hi
I am seeking assistance with looking in the Llanferyl parish records for the marriage of Susan Evan of Ffriddfawr, Nantyreira to Evan Hughes which should be in the Llanerfyl parish circa 1780 - 1790. They shift after their marriage to Nantysaeson  between Foel and Mallwyd (Garthbeibio parish) where first (?) son Evan is born 1790. Subsequent children born Hugh 1792 and Susan 1796.
They then establsih a small place called Llechwedd-bach in the parish of Garthbeibio nearby.

Believe they had daughter Jane born circa 1799 who is not in Garthbeibio records. Also keen to check if she or any other children are christened in Llanerfyl parish.

Regards
Warwick

Have looked in Llanerfyl records but can find no trace of a marriage of a  Susan Evan (or Evans) to Evan Hughes in the years you you indicated. Perhaps they were in an adjoining parish.Unfortunately
I can't help you there. Good luck with your searching.

Many thanks for your time in looking at teh records. I'll have to spread the net further to neighbouring parishes.  I'm was presuming 1780 to 1790  - I guess it could have been earlier if they were an older couple when they shifted to Nantysaeson.

Again thank you for your help.

ffridd fawr I believe is in Llanbrynmair Parish. A lot of people from the upper regions of Cwm Nant yr eira were members of the Hen Gapel Llanbrynmair or its worth looking in Llanbrynmair for this marriage. Nantysaeson now derelict was on the border of Garthbeibio and Mallwyd parish.... worth a look at Mallwyd records

Not sure if this is what you are looking for but it might be worth looking into. Found in the Marriage Bond site at Aberystwyth National Library of Wales.

Susanna Evans Sp 22 October 1789 at Llanbrynmair to Evan Hughes AB 116/64

under St Asaph diocese

Could be at the local church, with a bit of luck.

Thank you both for this lead - much appreciated.
I believe given other information that to be the right couple.

Any other information on either of them from the records at  Llanbrynmair would be most useful.

Thank you again
