Sorry, I forgot to add that, courtesy of another descendant of the Reay family who lives in New South Wales, I have quite a bit of information on this line of descendancy and if it's of any interest to you then Hannah Reay (who married Andrew Reay (1818) was the daughter of Edward and Ann Reay.
Also........
Unassisted Imigration to Victoria 1852-1923
Andrew Reay (Kay) aged 37, Oct 1856
Andrew Steel aged 39, Oct 1856

Andrew Reay returned to England at some point before 1871 when he is recorded as living at Crofton Mill, Cowpen then returned to Australia 19th August 1876 via ''Samuel Plimsoll''
He died 13th December 1879 and was buried at Gladsville Hospital Cemetery, NSW. Cause of death: Pthisis and Melancholia (pulmonary tuberculosis and depression)

Best wishes
Sylvia

Hi Sylvia,

Just a quick correction, Andrew Reay snr left Australia for England on the ship "Northumberland" in 1874. He returned to Australia with his wife Hannah on the "Orient" in December 1879.

It was his son Andrew Reay jnr, who along with his younger brothers, immigrated on the "Samuel Boddington" in 1876 and died in 1879.

The two eldest boys, Edward and James (my g.g.grandfather), arrived in 1866 on the ship "Ancilla".

Regards,
Ryan

Thomas Reay was the son of Edward Reay and Ann(a) Wear / Weir who were married at Hatburn, Northumberland on 7 December 1805.

Thomas Rae [sic] son of Edward Rae, husbandman of Berwick Hill, and Anna Weir was baptised at Thorneyford (Presbyterian), Kirkley, Northumberland on 16 February 1812 (born 20 January 1812).

Thomas' younger sister Hannah Reay married Andrew Reay the son of James Reay and Elizabeth Steel. Thomas is erroneously recorded in many tress as James' brother and the son of James Reay and Elizabeth Steel.
