Edith Schafer - Saxton
« on: Saturday 24 October 09 13:45 BST (UK) »
Hi Everyone,

In 1930 Edith Saxton (maiden name Schafer born 1903 Illinois ) is married with a son David Saxton born 1928 in Los Angeles.  Edith is living with her sister & brother in law Della & Joseph Hope but no husband.  Her brother Earl Schafer was in the same household.

Trying to find a marriage or the name of a husband for her.  Any other children born after 1930.

Son David Saxton possibly died 2006 San Diego. California.

Thank You.
Sandra

The California Birth Index has a birth for David Edward Saxton, born 4 Nov 1928 in San Diego Co.  His mother's maiden name was listed as Schager - that may be a typo.  The Social Security Death Index has a David Edward Saxton born the same date and died 27 Feb. 2006.  His last residence was listed as Woodburn, Marion Co., Oregon.

Thank you shellyesq - I have just found that.  It looks promising. No details on David's father though, all I know is that he was from New Mexico according to the 1930 census given place of birth of the father.

Thank You.

Hi All.

Still looking for a marriage for Edith Schafer to a Saxton - possibly in Los Angeles/San Diego before 1928 when son David was born.
Very scant info but her husband was probably born in New Mexico.

She may have had more children after 1930.

Thank You.

According to the California Birth Index (1905 to 1995), there were no other births for a child with the last name of Saxton, with a mother's maiden name of Schager or Schafer.

Of course, the couple could have moved out of California, or further typos could have occurred.

Searching for Saxton, born 1945 (+/- 20 years) in California produces 321 results.  Looking at these results - there are no maiden names similar to Schafer.

Looking at the 1930 census image, the above David may not be Edith's son.  The image shows his exact age, which would indicate he wasn't born in November.  (Unless the enumerator was given incorrect information.)

Hi Lisa,

Thank you so much for going through those births for me it is appreciated.  I take your point on what I assume to be a possible brith for the son David - it may still not be him.
As a long shot Jackson MN could be a possibility.

Thank you.

Hi Sandra:

You're quite welcome.

Do you have access to the California Voter Registration?

Hi Lisa,

Having gone forwards on the Jackson theory which is correct. I am now trying to go backwards.

I am trying to trace a Floyd Ellwood Saxton born 31 Jan 1922 (don't know where) died 4 Feb 1988 Murray. Minnesota.

Floyd married a Virginia Faye Weaver 24 Dec 1943 in Tracy.

They had 2 sons and 6 daughters, the names I have.

Virginia died June 22 nd at Slayton Manor was buried at Slayton Memorial Gardens. Slayton.

Floyd served in WW2 at Fort Snelling.
How can I trace his birth ?

Thank You.
