Place in Renfrew
« on: Sunday 01 November 09 13:24 GMT (UK) »
According to transcription of 1871 census,  place of birth is given as Bugeposten Renfrew.
Can anyone verify the name of this place?

Thanks
Anaka

Can you post the reference number of the census so we can look at the entire document.

Could it be that is a poorly written form of Bishopton?

Hi,

Have had a good look at all the registration districts for Renfrewshire, and all starting with B at

www.scotlandspeople.gov.uk/content/help/index.aspx?r=551&556

Nothing seems remotely likely...

Suggest you look at other census to see if they are more easily read.  Do you know where the person was born?

In 1871 the normal usage would often be Brig O'Weir.
Skewis (Wales and Scotland), Ayers (Maidenhead, Berkshire), Hildreth (Berkshire)
