Here is the Edward Jenner's birth:

Jul/Aug/Sep 1849
Edward Henry Jenner
Brighton
ref 7 297?  (the index has not commited to a number, the image is not too bad and I think that is what is says)

now it depends how rich you are as to whether you want to send for that cert at this stage, might be best to wait and see what other sleuthing we can do about him, in case we rule him out.

Edmonds/Edmunds - mainly Sussex
DeBoo - London
Green - Suffolk
Parker - Sussex
Kemp - Essex
Farrington - Essex
Boniface - West Sussex

Hi Liz

Nice to know you were also taken with Elizabeth Jenner and young Edward Henry :D

I have hunted high and low for them as Jenner in 61 but can't find them - not that that proves anything as she could have married someone else.

Will keep looking

Jan ;)

I love making up stories too ;D

- not that that proves anything as she could have married someone else.

The only marriage for an Elizabeth Jenner (in Brighton, but of course she could have moved) between 1851 and 1861 is:
Ap/May/Jun 1862
Elizabeth Jenner
Brighton 2b 248
with possible grooms of Henry Cruttenden or Joseph MAnn.

I reckon it is Henry, as in 1861 at RG9 597 4 4 is a family in Brighton  consisting of Henry 41, Eliz 30 and children of which eldest is age 6.  I cant see a Jospeh Mann with wife Eliz in the area.
This Elizabeth (now Mrs Cruttenden and we think nee Jenner) cannot be the Eliza Jenner that we were following (who we think may change to Armstrong!) because she is wrong age, says born Brightno (not Middx) and also no sign of young Edw/Henry (tho of course that is not proof in itself as he could be elsewhere)

However, I am pretty certain then that Eliz Jenner that we found on 1851 does not marry Henry C, and that there arent any other likely marraiges for her .......  all adds weight to the theory that she is Elizabeth Armstrong but doesnt prove it.

I'm beginnig to think the only lead is Edward Jenners birth cert.
It may:
a) be a complete red herring, as we dont know if this is the same person
or
b) be inconclusive ie just show he is the son of Elizabeth Jenner, no father listed. We know that much already!
or
c) may, just may, hold a vital clue to prove this one way or other. For example it may show mum as Jenner nee Armstrong, or it may have an address the same as where 'our' one lives later ...or something .... I 'm not sure what else.

Hi Jan & Liz .... back on the scene, and read through the posts and am more confused than ever!!

Is this Edward Jenner's b cert able to be seen on line? and what info would it give??
Thanks for the thoughts while I was away.

I do have a Henry age 12 on the 1861 census in Lewisham [page 22 of RGg/415] but I have ruled that out as to far away from Brighton.

Hi Ian

Sadly birth certificates can't be viewed online. You can order from

http://www.gro.gov.uk/gro/content/certificates/#0

for £7, using the details Liz posted earlier.

This site is very helpful about information certificates give

http://www.dixons.clara.co.uk/Certificates/indexbd.htm

What the birth cert contains may or may not help you in  your search.  All I can say is as this young man appears to be the only likely candidate for your Henry Edward Armstrong I would order the certificate. It might be £7 wasted, it might be the breakthrough you are looking for :D
