Willliam Bryden
« on: Monday 09 November 09 19:39 GMT (UK) »
Hi all.

Looking for any info about William Brydon, who on the 1900 census was living with wife Jane and fa
mily in Bevier City, Macon, Missouri. The children were.
Jennie Bryden, 15
Bell Bryden, 13
Ray Bryden, 10
Arthur, 9
Bessie, 1

William Bryden b. April 14, 1849 in Kilwinning Ayr. and married Jane Ballie 1881 in Kilmanarock Ayr.

William Bryden arrived in US, first in 1868. He must have gone back to Scotland and married there and then arrived in US a second time in 1882.

On the marriage cert in Scotland, 1881, it states he was a widower, but have been unable to find an earlier marriage there. Could he have married after arriving in the US after 1868.

All help will be really appreciated.

Mary

Hi Mary.

Sorry I don't know the answer to that question.

I can see 4/5 entries on the passenger lists for William Bryden but it does'nt give alot more detail.

The dates may fit thought - all from Glasgow to New York

15 Feb 1870
10 June 1879
14 Dec 1882 could have a child of 11 travelling with him.

Do you want any further information on the children ?

Hi Sandra.

Thanks a lot for all this info.

William Brydon is rather far out on my tree, a son of a great aunt. His childrens`, children are some kind of cousins.

I tried to find him in Scotland earlier and then someone on the Ayr board found him on the census in the US. Then I just had to dig further.

There is a tiny tree on Ancestry but nothing to be wise about. Only gives parents names and 2 half sisters.

Thanks.

Mary

Don`t think it`s my family. My William Bryden was an illigitimate son of Thomas Bryden and Jean Fulton, b. Kilwinning.

Thanks any way..

Mary
