Thank you very much Shelly.
It did seem a little odd but that answers the question.

 - her birth is here as "Hilda Neil", confirming birth-date and place.

 - Los Angeles city directories. Don't see James/Hilda in 1938 (there are other hits for Pecoraro), or in 1942.

Here is another mystery -any suggestions please -  the cemetery listed on the death certificate for Hilda is Queen of Heaven but they have no records of anyone of those names buried there !!

They suggested trying Calvary Cemetery- Los Angeles but the reply was the same.

The Coroners Office in Los Angeles wanted $75 for an autopsy report which is not exactly what we are trying to find out.  We know she was hit by a car and died of multiple traumatic injuries

The 2 death records are as Lisa wrote on the 10 Nov.

Hilda M Pecorie.  3 Nov 1914 Arizona.  12 Dec 1967. Los Angeles.

Helen M Pecoraro 3 Nov 1914 Arizona  12 Dec 1967 Los Angeles.

It would seem that a social worker may have taken care of the death in the absence of any family.  She had either split or been divorced from James Pecararo.
