Website - Fells and Seas
« on: Wednesday 11 November 09 19:32 GMT (UK) »
Hi

Sorry everyone.

The website bit the dust coutisy of BT's deciding to axe the facility I acquired as part of my package when I first signed up for BTinternet.

It was intended to move it to another facility before the cut off date, but  events overtook me and I'm afraid it's offline.

However it will be appearing eventually with more information and photographs as soon as I get chance

In the mean time, please feel free to ask me in this post or via pm if you would like me to do a lookup in any of the information on there.

I will put a list of data up eventually, but in the meantime, please feel free to ask or to point other people for whom you feel it may be useful in the right direction.

Apologies as well, I know that some of the links I put in the resources do not work, as those websites have gone the same way.  I will have a look to see whether any of them can be found elsewhere when I get chance.  If you find any with new links, please feel free to add them.

Best wishes

Hi Eric

These are just as published locally.  It's billed as benefit.  Not an original document, but it looks like local charity of one sort or another.  Just a list of names, position (EG widow, child, disabled, abd abode.

I'll look at the original page again.

Any particular name?

Bet wishes

William Wain Butcher was RN,his wife Alice, resided in Windermere,Westmorland.Don't spend too much time with it as i have a lead that Alice's family (Barton) may have been the money side.

Hi Eric

No Butchers on there, sorry.  Of course theat was jusy a newspaper list for one particular year.  I don't think they're always given.

If he was RN based in Whitehaven, he may be on the National Archives site if you haven't already got everything from there.

I found an ancestor for a relative on the NA Digital Microfiche.  He was an officer at the post.  Lifeguard?  I took copies and there were a few people mentioned.  I'll look for them.

Best wishes

Hi Eric

Thank you for letting me know.  Do ask if there's anything else on thelist that will help.

By the way, if she was in Windermere, any relief records may be in Kendal.

Best wishes
