I do know that they was both married before they met each other Ethel married in 1913 married name Kane, but dont know what happend to Anthonys first wife?

Hi there,

It may be that they were never married.  If they lived together, unmarried, then it's likely that Ethel would use Anthony's surname for respectability - they would not let anyone know that they weren't married.

Have you looked for deaths of the first spouses?  It could be that at least one of them was still alive and marriage was therefore not possible.

So, if Ethel's first husband married another two times this would indicate that he lived longer than Ethel.  If this is so then she would not have been free to marry Anthony.

I can't find a marriage for Anthony at all, there are no Mckeeganey marriages on ancestry prior to 1953 other than Mary Ann in 1905

Hi
I couldn't find a Kane, but found a Cain marrying in 1936 & 1944 in Chorley, is this the right person? If so it was before Ethel died in 1955
