Hi Wendy
Would your Sampson be son of Sampson born c 1849 and Thomasina Evans.  I have them in my records but no children although I do have children for a brother of Sampson and seems they were at St Keverne.

Most of my early research is not verified but I have a lot of names of early Carlyons from a lady called Pearl from NZ who was doing a detailed Carlyon study.
Regards
Carmel

Hi Carmel,

You are of course referring to the very helpful Pearl Montrose. Yes that is my Sampson. Children of Sampson & Thomasin/e are: Sampson 1775, Eleanor 1776, Thomasin 1778, Jane 1780, William 1782, Ann 1783 and Grace 1785, all born St.Keverne. Have you been in touch with Gary and Ann Carlyon from Qld?

Regards,

Wendy

Carlyon from Cornwall is a brickwall for me now. Edward Carlyon married Sarah Coombe 1848 in Tavistock ,Devon. As far as I can see Edward was born 6 july 1823, St.Keverne. Breage. Their children, Elizabeth, Edward, James and Alfred were born in Cornwall between 1848 and 1860..I can also see that Sarah was a widow in 1881, lived in West Rainton, durham County.
Any help at all on this line would be greatly appreciated.

Hi Wendy, hopeful you maybe able to assist my endeavour, having read some of your threads you seem to be up to speed on many aspects of the Carlyon clan!

My father (Roy) grew up in Birmingham (U.K.) and his father (same name as I have David Richard Carlyon) grew up in the South Wales Valleys (Aberdare).
His father Thomas (Carlyon) settled there with his wife Elizabeth (mining work I believe attracted them).

Prior to that I understand they had come up from Cornwall.

Do you have any record of this family branch?
