How on earth did you see William' army records!  I thought you had to apply to the home office or something (told you I was a numpty)

My brother was given the middle name of Beaumont after g. grandad but we don't know where it came from, maybe we'll find out at some point!

Oops, sorry - it's Harry's WWI Army records that are accessible, not William's (which would be WWII)

Not getting anywhere quickly with the Beaumont name but I think I know where Archibald had his middle name Lee from ...

Remember Louisa's maiden name was Blockley

1861

Leicester St Margaret
Wharf St

John Blockley, head, 37, Tailor, b. Claybrook Leicestershire
Sophia, wife, 38, Milliner & Dress Maker, b. Hinckley Leicestershire
Emma J, dau, 14, scholar, b. Leicester
Priscilla, dau, 11, scholar, b. Claybrook Leicestershire
Louisa, dau, 7, scholar, b. Leicester
Mary A Bradshaw, visitor, unm, 19, Shoe Binder, b. Leicester

Marriage Jun 1844 Leicester 15 118
John Blockley to possibly Sophia Lee

Extracted IGI christening (from www.familysearch.org)

John Blockly
25 May 1825
Claybrook, Leicestershire

parents Joseph and Hannah

other children christened to Joseph and Hannah Blockley in the same batch:
Richard, 12 Apr 1814
Charles, 23 Nov 1817
Joseph, 5 Mar 1820

The only marriage I can see on the IGI for a John Blockley to a Hannah is:
Joseph Blockley - Hannah Brooks
23 Nov 1804, Claybrook, Leicester

Not Hannah Beaumont then!

Possibly not on Sophia Lee's side either ...

1841 census
HO107/601/3 35 20
Hinckley, Leicestershire
Back Lane
Thomas Lee, 50, Stocking M
Mary, 50
Sophia, 15
Maria, 15

All born Leicestershire

(ages were rounded down to the nearest 5 on the 1841 census)

Possible marriage (if Thomas and Mary were in fact about 55)
Thomas Lee - Mary Harrold
25 Oct 1805 Hinckley

Yet again not a Beaumont.

(These are just possibles, really, you'd obvioulsy need certs to back up the findings)

Yes, of course, you're right although they do all seem to fit, just like a never ending jigsaw.

How long have you been doing this?

Are you asking because we seem to be progressing quickly? It's not so much a matter of expertise as of what is quickly available and above all identifiable online - in your case you're lucky to research pretty uncommon names! :D
