Can anybody suggest good sources of information post 1901 for Scotland in particular Clunie, Perthshire area.
My Great x 3 Grandfather James Heron B 1813 Blairgowrie died in 1902 in that area leaving his daughter Helen who would have been around 54 years possibly born Blairgowrie too.
James was a shown as a Crofter @ Burnside at the time of his death aged 85 !!!
Trying to locate / research Helen and "Burnside".
Thanks

Actually the info was on a certificate which I had ordered from SP for the McGregors whom I was rsearching...

Why I remembered the name not sure !!! ???

As to a will ?? not sure on that one, you could try Scotland People or maybe someone with a little more knowledge than me can point you in the right direction.  you may even try googling "Forneth"Clunie,Perthshire and see if that brings up anything.

Good luck with your searching  ;D

Hello 'Pricey'

If you're going to be going further back with this family, the best thing to do is register at www.scotlandspeople.gov.uk - it's free - £6.00 paid for by debit/credit card will allow you 30 credits (min spend), which will allow you to download 5 records.  They are not 'certificates in the legal sense, but are entries which will give you all the info you need. Go to the site and have a look.  Currently you can download births to 1908 - marriages to about  1933 and deaths to ? 1956 or thereabout - I need to re-familiarise myself.

If you're only looking for the death entry of Helen Heron - I'm more than willing to downoad it and send it on.  It won't set me back  :O)

Got to log off now.  Good luck with your searching.

Regards,   Steve.

Sorry Pricey - Did not make it clear, the death cert was obtained from Scotlands People that's where the GRO number comes in, as I said I had printed it out for info re the the McGregors and Helen's death was recorded on that particular page...no I am not researching the Heron family  ;D.

As Steve said your best bet is Scotland People for all births death marriages etc, assume you are going forward rather than going back re the family..if going back the IGI is also helpful.

Sadly the free search for Wills etc only goes up to 1905 on Scotlands People, not sure if later ones are available.

Hello again Pricey - and Pat  :O)

As an aside.  The IGI has James Heron marring Janet Reid on 06 Nov 1842 in Blairgowrie Perthshire - the entry will be available for download from Scotlands People (SP) for 6 credits.    It'' be under the OPRs.

I see also that Helen had a brother John, born 30 Aug 1848, Dunkeld Perthshire.

Pat - I see that you have Helens dob as 1848, whilst the IGI has her as 1846.  22 Nov.

FYI, a free search on SP brings up 2 children to James Heron and Janet Reid.  Search of Perthshire only 1840 - to 1854.

Regards,  Steve :O)

Pricey - a 'must website' to add to your favourites- the National Library of Scotland (NLS) maps  http://www.nls.uk/maps/os/index.html   - if you select the 6" to 1 mile they give fantastic detail and are zoomable....
