There should be a 'new topic' button for this board (between 'notify' and 'new poll')- do you mean that the other buttons are there but not that one?
www.rootschat.com/forum/index.php/board,287.0.html

See 'Posting Topics and Replies' in Help pages for details-
www.rootschat.com/help/posting.php

Yes, but as I said a bit earlier, the button appeared once I had made 1 or 2 postings. It was present in the other forums I looked at, including this one, which is why we are here  :)

Well I have logged out and back in, and there are still a lot "unread".

Thanks very much everyone, I'm OK now.  :)

That's because it was moved to this board from Beginners . http://www.rootschat.com/forum/index.php/topic,420331.0.html

Mort  OK.  Some answers to your questions.

What do the RootsChat stars mean ?
What does Rootschat Extra, Veteran, Aristocrat, etc mean ?

Trystan replied to a similar query a long time ago that the star system works like this,

Rootschat Pioneer 1 Star 0-9 posts
Rootschat Extra 2 stars 10-99 posts
Rootschat Member 3 stars 100-249 posts
Rootschat Senior 4 stars 250-499
Rootschat Veteran 5 stars 500-999 posts
Rootschat Aristocrat 6 stars 1000-2999 posts
Rootschat Marquess 7 stars 3000 or more posts

The only Boards you won't add to your tally are The Lighter Side and Even Lighter Side, everywhere else you will.

The Blue stars are for our wonderful Moderators, and the Brown ones are for Sarah and Trystan. You may see Green stars too from time to time  those are for brand new moderators who have just joined.

Why do I get my PM just 'quoted' back at me ?

Because you've ticked the box "Save a copy in my inbox"

Why are topics Locked ?

Because the originator of the topic has locked it.  If you look on a forum where you have posted, you will see a padlock next to your topic.  You can lock or unlock from there.  Alternatively, if you scroll to the bottom of a thread you have started, on the left hand side there is an option to lock/unlock the topic.

I am not receiving any e-mail notifications of new replies ?

Have you clicked on "Notify" on the forum you have started the new topic, at the top right hand side of the list of subjects, are boxes labelled Notify, New Topic, New Poll.  You can actually click on Notify on every forum if you want to, then you'll get notified each time another Rootschatter makes a post on the topic.

That's enough for now.

Lizzie

Lizzie- I think the list was pasted from Help pages not questions that were being asked.
