Hi

I am trying to find out the maiden names of wifes of the following

Richard Pawlyn born 1766 married Constance ? born 1766
they had Josiah Pawlyn in 1805 who married Ann ? born in 1806
who had James Pawlyn in 1838 who married Mary ? born in 1839

Have looked at the censuses from 1841-1891 but there is no in laws on it.

Hiya Judy
nothing on familysearch.org.uk for Richard
3 for Josiah Pawlyn ..all in 1828 in Mevagissey
one on the 28th May 1828 ..submitted ,so no real concrete info
one saying about 1828..submitted ""  ""   ""  """ ""   ""     ""   ""
one on 28th November 1828( EXTRACTED so this is factual) to Ann Dunn

James Pawlyns marriage is on www.freebmd.org.uk
dec qtr 1863 James Pawlyn to Mary Williams  at St Austell 5c 230 .....
so there`s 2 out of 3 ...on familysearch there is a marriage of Richard Paulin ???   could this have been the way it was spelt in the 1700`s ?....this marriage was in 1784 and in Stepney London and is extracted....he married Mary Hall

Did you get to the bottom of this?

Richard Pawlyn (B:1765) married Constance Davies (B:1765)
Constance died 1846.

Children:
Richard 1791
Elizabeth 1793
Mary 1796
Joseph 1799
James 1802
Josiah 1805

I have Josiah Pawlyn married Ann Dunn. Ann came from the other fish merchants of Mevagissey.

I have Ann born 1805. Christened 1 Jan 1806.
Father Joseph Dunn
Mother Martha Hunkin

James married Mary Williams on 14 October 1863
Father Samuel Williams
Mother Amy Rawe

James is my GG Grand Father.

James is the man in this photo.

Some of my records are a bit ropey (they came from an old hand written family tree of made in 1970's) but I think they are correct.

Anyway,

Hope that helps!

In an idle moment I Googled Pawlyn Mevagissey, and found this thread.

My maternal grandfather was a Pawlyn, who lived in Padstow and had a brother I vaguely remember visiting in Mevagissey in about 1965.

I would be very interested to learn about this side of my family, and so if there is any information which you would be happy to share, I would be thrilled to hear from you.

Hi
So was your grandfather Norman Dunn Pawlyn? He was the my grandmothers brother her name was Edith Dunn Pawlyn, they had another brother Thomas Allen Pawlyn who lived in Mevagissey and two sisters called Gladys May Pawlyn and Harriet Louisa Pawlyn
I have further information about Norman and his time in Canada .

Yes! He was indeed my grandfather. He had five children - Stella, Pat, Thora, Sonya (my mother, B 1930 D 1987) and Tom (D c1974). His wife died in childbirth, and he married the children's nanny Hilda (out of convenience, I understand) and moved to Padstow, where I think one of his brothers paid for and built the house - Stormont in Dennis Road. Do you know it?

My interest in the family was resurrected last year when we visited the museum at Mevagissey where there were some photographs of various Pawlyns at the turn of the century - football teams.

Is this the best way to communicate? I'd be happy to share my email address, but if that's against the rules, I can be found at www.cambridge-hr.com.
