Barrington Buckland, Somerset

Hi all,
My gt gt grandmother was Prudence Buckland born circa 1826 Midsomer Norton Somerset. Married Elihu Nokes Paulton  Her marriage cert gives her father as Barrington Buckland Occupation Tinker. I'm wondering if this maybe James Barrington Buckland Hawker died aged 78 years Farrington Gurney 23rd Aug 1875 Midsomer Norton reg district. Or Timotheus Barrington Buckland died Nov 1856 Bishop Sutton Som aged 102 knife grinder (gypsey) Clutton reg district. Now my gtgt grandmother lived in Bishop Sutton with her collier husband from 1848 until she died in 1898. Anyone know anything about this family?  Thanks for any info.

Have you tried looking at Leonard Ing's 'Index of Buckland and Buckley Names extracted from the Journal of the Gypsy Lore Society', published by the Romany and Traveller Family History Society? (www.rtfhs.org.uk)

It contains lots of interesting references to the Bucklands going back to the 18th century, mainly in the West Country, and pointing to where you can read fuller articles about them (as the book title says) in the Journal of the Gypsy Lore Society.

I am interested in this thread according to Leonard Ing booklet
There was a Prudence Buckland daughter of   Abraham *Barendon* Buckland
She was widow of Sidnal Smith- died without issue in Charlsbury Oxfordshire * no date*
sister of *Old* Dimiti Buckland

Maybe the Barendon was changed to Barrington?

It also says of 2 more children:
Dimti Buckland husband of Loli Smith daughter of Alabon Smith
They had a son Uriah * butcher Buckland  his widow & children always wintered around Swindon
Another daughter of dimiti
Mary  * Oaky * Buckland

I do know that Dimti had a son Abraham who married Emily Shaw found their marriage 1863 Jul/Aug/Sept Abingdon Berkshire
 Also a daughter called Ettie who was mother of Manful Roberts


Anyway my interest is again according to Leonard Ing
 Abraham  Barendon was possible either a son or  younger brother to Edward Buckland who was husband of Diana Smith
If we look at the death age of Timotheus Barrington Buckland died Nov 1856 -aged 102 he was born 1754?

Edward is believed to have been buried in 1845 aged 90 so born 1755
So by dates alone its possible they could be brothers
Timotheus was also known as Moti

My Grt Grt Grand father Tenant  & his brother  Plato were possible descendants of this Edward & Diana

Their parents I believe were a Thomas * George * Buckland b 1797  Oxfordshire
 & Sarah b 1811 Oxfordshire
 Were found in census 1851 in Kilmersdon Somerset which is not far from Mid somer norton * I used to live there years ago so know area fairly well*
I think Edward was his father

In 1874 there is a report of a large encampment 10miles outside of Bath of Bucklands
I would dearly love to know more about this group but can;t find anything ?
