SIT: Long time since some members on line

Have just been looking at the SIT and found quite a few names which may be of interest to me but when I looked they had not been on line for a few years. One joined july2007 and was last on line Aug 2007. Obviously these people are hoping for us to contact them without any imput from themselves.

Not necessarily, when I first joined I did not really think the site was what I was looking for so did not use much.  Use regularly now.  This site may not have been exactly what they were looking for.  Although I do not know any site which fits everyone exactly!!!

There is also the possibility that someone could have died quite soon after joining.

You just never know why someone does not come back.   Very much the same thing happens on the GR site.

Ringrose is referring to the Surname Interest Table (see above), which unfortunately has been out of commission for a little while now - hopefully back soon!

I agree with your sentiments about the site generally though!

There is also the remote possibility that they have decided family history research is just not for them, or of course they may have moved died etc.

Just noticed this thread, and had to confess.

I've been guilty of rushing straight into the forums without bothering to sign in ... for months at a time!  Remember, that's what the profile actually shows -- when a member has last logged in.  So those lost sheep may actually have popped by quite often.  Go ahead and post something, then see what happens!  (Though if they're NOT logging in, they won't see any PMs.)
