I thank you for the information.
This very well sounds like it could be the family. I am not quite sure though. My dad and aunt said that there were more in the family. I am positive that Ed Vaughan was born in 1887 though which wouldn't make him 12 in 1901. It is correct that Richard Vaughan was a farmer. I thought Jack would have been younger also.  I think that is the right area though.

I can't for the life of me find that same 1901 Family in 1881 or 1891  :'(

Can you tell us anymore about Ed or Jack?

Cheers

Ed moved to Canada in 1912. Jack went to Canada and returned to go to war. He died on Vimy Ridge.

FindMyPast/Ancestors on Board
http://www.ancestorsonboard.com
Ed VAUGHAN b abt 1888, Liverpool to Quebec, Canada 1912

This matches the 1901 Census, for 12 yr old Edward (b abt 1889)

Also on Ancestors on Board:, who could be "Jack":
John VAUGHAN (no age stated on this list), Liverpool to Quebec Canada 1901.

Jack is certainley the pet form of John, but is also found in it's own right even back then.

The Battle of Vimy Ridge took place between 9th & 14 April 1917. The principal Allied combatants were Canadian. I can't find an entry for John/"Jack" in CWCG site.

The registrations for Presteigne were under Kington at the time Edward was born.
Can see only one possible in that district:
Edward Joseph VAUGHAN - Mar Qtr 1888 Kington

OK! Found them in 1881:

1881: Northwood Green - Parish of Evenjobb, Kington, New Radnor
(ecclesiastic parish of Evancoyd)
RG11 /  Piece: 2609 / Folio: 103 / Page: 8
Head: Richard VAUGHN 34, Ag Lab, b Presteigne, Radnorshire
Wife: Mary Ann VAUGHN 30, b Shobdon, Herefordshire
Wifes Son: Thomas HATFIELD 11, Scholar, b Presteigne, Radnorshire
Son: George VAUGHN 6, Scholar, b Lingen, Herefordshire
Son: James VAUGHN 4, b Lingen, Herefordshire
Son: Richard VAUGHN 1, b Lingen, Herefordshire

Cheers

(Is within the Ecclesiatic Parish of Presteigne)
RG12 / Piece: 2078 / Folio 33/ Page 5;
Head:  Richard VAUGHN 40, General Labourer, b Willey, herefordshire
