Is it just the index that is free? (as it is now)
Away sorting out DNA matches... I may be gone for some time many years!

The digitised Kerry parish records were recently given to the Dept of Arts Sports and Tourism and any information since then has stated that they will be available free on a restructured irish genealogy.ie site from the 26th November.
I must say I am a little sceptical and will have to wait till Thursday to see if the above is correct.

The revamped www.irishgenealogy.ie is now showing a notice that it will be relaunched this evening at 6pm and that all Kerry and Dublin parish records will be available for free.
For the other dioceses with digitised records it will still have the signposting function.

this looks very promising - if it lives up to expectations it would save many long searches of the Dublin microfilms...

looking forward to 6 o'clock !

update : the parish record searches seem to active already...

What a nice surprise had no idea this was coming on-line after finding loads already in Kerry line.

Is this planned for more counties like Cork hopefully, so nice that its free.

It seems that Cork and Carlow records will be available in the future but no timescale is given - I did see somewhere a mention of mid 2010.
Just noticed that you are interested in Brosnan in Mid -East Kerry. Have a g-grandmother Joanna Brosnan  married to John McGuire  in 1858 in Castleisland. Having difficulty identifying her parents - any connection?
