Hi I'm Jill
Help .................... I'm looking at my family history.   My grandmother Emily Florence Potts Fleckney was born in Toddington in 1887 and her brother Samuel G P Fleckney was born 1889.    My grandmother married John Richard Innell in 1917 and they kept the Sow & Pigs.   My grandfather died round about 1938 and in the Toddington Book under Kellys my grandmother is still the proprietor of the pub.    I Would like to find out the dates they actually had the Sow & Pigs and the date my grandfather died.   Also I cant find out anything about Samuel although he's on the 1911 census, what was his birthdate and when did he die.   No mention was ever made of him during my childhood so until I started on my history I didn't know he had existed.     By the way, my mother was Zero Florence Innell.    Can anyone help please?  Thanks

Welcome to Rootschat.

John R Innell age 52 died in Luton registration district in the March quarter 1938 vol 3b page 477. If you use the reference I've quoted you can oder his death certificate online at http://www.gro.gov.uk/gro/content/certificates/ to get his precise date of death.

Samuel Fleckney age 88 died in Luton reg district in the June quarter 1963 vol 4a page 162

If you use www.freebmd.org.uk you'll find Samuel G P's birth registration.

Can't help with the Sow and Pigs I'm afraid

Hallo Bedfordshire boy
Thanks for all the info.   Have applied for John Innell's death cert. as your data marries up with what little I had.
Re Samual Fleckney.  Have found his birth certificate which I have applied for.  Dont think the person you quoted as dieing in 1963 is my Samual because he was born in 1889 and in 1963 would have been 74 not 85 as you quoted.    I think as he was never mentioned by my family he must have died before I was born in 1942, but of course you never know there might have been some disagreement in the family.
I found my grandmother's death certificate.   I remembered that she lived a while with us and died when I was a child so was easier to find.  Actually she died 1950.   Thanks again for your help.    Jill

In 1901
The Square, Toddington
Thomas Fleckney head single 52 Carpenter
Florence Emily Potts Relative single 14 scholar
Samuel George Potts Relative 12 scholar
All born Toddington

1891
Toddington
Thomas Fleckney head single 42 Carpenter
Lizzie Fleckney niece 26 Hat and bonnet sewer
Emily F P Fleckney dau 4
Samuel G P Fleckney son 2
All born Toddington

In 1917 Emily F Potts married John Innell

There was another Samuel Fleckney who was born in 1874 in Beds who looks more likely to have been the one who died in 1963. I can't see any other Samuels who would fit a birth of 1889 though

Hi Toddington Boy
Thanks for all info which I had managed to get.   I also got the 1911 census the other day
The Square, Toddington
Geo Potts, head, married , aged 56 market gardener & dealer
Elizabeth Potts, wife, aged 46, manager hat work room
Florence Fleckney, step daughter to head, single, aged 24 dealer in garden produce
Samuel Fleckney, stepson to head, single, aged 22, hat sewer
all born Toddington
Although Geo Potts is not on my grandmother's (Florence) birth cert, no father noted,  he is noted on her marriage cert as her father and retired blacksmith.   I find it really intriguing about Samuel and unfortunately as far as I know I have no family living who can tell me !!!
Thanks for your help.  Jill

Hi Nadine
Sorry but I have only got back to 1840 re Fleckney, you have done well.    But this has really got hold of me and I spend a lot of my spare time sorting here and there. so I will keep you in mind on my travels.   Best Wishes.  Jill
